A Coastal Wedding at Eisenhower House in Newport, Rhode Island
Victoria and Marcus’ late summer wedding at the Eisenhower House in Newport, Rhode Island was the perfect blend of laid-back joy and intentional beauty. From the breezy getting ready morning to their wildflower-filled ceremony overlooking the water, every part of the day felt true to them.
About the Couple
Victoria and Marcus’s love story began in college. Their engagement happened in a moment of everyday magic: while renovating their home, Marcus proposed during what was supposed to be a routine washer/dryer installation. That same energy, unpolished, real, and meaningful, carried through their entire wedding day.
A Documentary-Style Approach to a Newport Wedding
As documentary wedding photographers in Newport, our goal is always to capture the day as it felt, not just how it looked. From the joyful chaos of getting ready to the quiet glances exchanged during golden hour, we approached Victoria and Marcus’s Eisenhower House wedding with a film-inspired lens, capturing the unscripted moments and the little in-betweens that often go unnoticed.
Their day was colorful, breezy, and relaxed, just like them.
Getting Ready at Eisenhower House
Both Victoria and Marcus got ready onsite at Eisenhower House, surrounded by laughter, coffee, and a soundtrack of nostalgic college playlists. The bridal suite filled with the buzz of bridesmaids in mismatched dresses and loose hairstyles, while wildflower-inspired bouquets added pops of cheerful color to the coastal setting.
Meanwhile, Marcus and his groomsmen took over a nearby room, tying ties, cracking jokes, and sharing toasts before the ceremony.
A Colorful Ceremony Overlooking Narragansett Bay
The ceremony took place on the back lawn, framed by sailboats drifting across Narragansett Bay. The breeze tugged at Victoria’s veil and sent flower petals dancing down the aisle. The altar was kept simple, letting the view and the vibrant wildflowers do the talking.
In true documentary fashion, we captured the ceremony from all angles, tight shots of their hands, teary guest reactions, and wide views of the coastline behind them. It wasn’t staged or stiff, it was real, and that made it unforgettable.
Wildflowers, Mismatched Dresses & Laid-Back Portraits
After the ceremony, we wandered the grounds for couple’s portraits and wedding party photos. Victoria’s bridal look was effortless and editorial, with her bouquet bursting in wild color. Her bridesmaids wore different shades, textures, and silhouettes, perfectly mirroring the relaxed, joyful vibe of the day.
As film-style wedding photographers, we love weaving in portraits that feel both cinematic and completely natural. The light was soft, the wind playful, and the energy between Victoria and Marcus made my job easy.
A Reception Full of Color and Candid Emotion
The reception took place under a tent next to the house, strung with twinkle lights and bursting with floral centerpieces in every hue. The decor was simple yet vibrant. Guests sipped cocktails during golden hour while kids played on the lawn, and everywhere we looked, there were pockets of joy waiting to be captured.
The toasts were heartfelt, with lots of laughter (and a few tears).
Sunset at Eisenhower House
As the sun dipped behind the water, we stole a few minutes for sunset portraits on the lawn. These are some of our favorite images of the day, Victoria’s dress catching the wind, Marcus pulling her close, the sky glowing behind them. Shot on film and digital, these portraits blend warmth, texture, and real connection.
